Mixed media... Library Crafts

When I first finished library school with my masters, the first "librarian" job I got was at a public library as the Children's Librarian!

As challenging as it was in certain ways, it was also a lot of fun, partly because I got to do stuff like this!
(Story-time was fun too)

The summer reading program had a western theme, and all of the items here are crafts I made to decorate the children's area and promote that year's program.

Trading Post I converted a book cart into a "trading post", where the kids could trade the "coins" they earned (by reading so many books) for prizes This is a mural I made for the back wall.
Each child who participated in the program chose a small die-cut figure to put their name on and place up on the mural (you can see a few already up). By the end of the summer, it was so covered you could hardly see the mural anymore.

The cactus and horse were made from another librarian's pattern (as was the bison below), but the wagon was my own design
